Every group that finds dynamite in the shop has the same conversation: “Are we sleeping on the dynamite?” The answer, tested on camera all the way up to the final boss, is no — but it does have exactly one job worth doing.
Where to Buy It
- Island 2 general shop — listed alongside the Big Motor and lures.
- Island 4 gun store — on the shelf with the pistol, SMG, shotgun, knife and sniper rifle.
The shelf label is $25 — that matches the co-op group’s “only a $25 investment.” Cheap enough to experiment with.
The Reality Check
Three facts, all confirmed on camera in the 100% run:
- Boss damage is poor. Chat begged the runner to try dynamite on the final Magma Whale. He did, live: “That’s not even that much damage, dude. … Yeah, dynamite’s not that much damage.”
- It cannot be upgraded. Asked directly — “Can you upgrade dynamite? Uh, no.” Guns get upgrade tiers; dynamite stays at base damage forever.
- It kills you first. In co-op, players downed themselves with their own throws twice, and “kill us all with dynamite” became the running joke. Distance is not optional.
Don’t budget dynamite into any boss plan. Guns are the answer to every boss — see the Volcanic Whale guide for the endgame loadout.
What It’s Actually For
“Everyone’s dream” — Kill a seagull with dynamite — sits at 2.1% global unlock, making it one of the rarest achievements outside the endgame grind. The setup:
- Buy 2–3 sticks (misses happen).
- Drop a fish or food on open ground and back away — seagulls land on loose food.
- Equip the dynamite, throw it at the landed gull from a safe range, and confirm the kill.
Seagull behavior and every other kill method are on the seagull page.
Throwing It Without Dying
Even the reference runner fumbled his first throw straight into the water (“How am I supposed to throw it? … I tried.”), and a Steam thread asks the same question. Equip it like a weapon, aim well past your feet, and treat the blast radius with respect — every recorded dynamite death in our sources was self-inflicted.
