The Pufferfish kill feels like a finish line, but nothing new appears on your map afterward — which is exactly why “what do I do now?” is one of the most asked questions on the game’s Steam forum. Three things stand between you and Island 4.
1. Hand the Tail to the Tourist
Walk the drop pile and find the piece that isn’t a meat chunk: a half fish with a bone sticking out — the tail. The Tourist (the man sitting on the ground by the tree, the same NPC who gave you the Carrot) takes it and hands you a flash drive with the coordinates to Island 4.
He does not accept meat chunks — if he won’t react, you’re offering the wrong item. Details in the trophy page.
2. Sort Out Navigation
Island 4 does not appear automatically after the kill. You need the flash drive first, and then a way to follow it:
- The boat radar upgrade is sold on Island 3 (about $200 in the reference run) — it “just gets added to your boat.”
- Players have also pointed to a purchasable tablet for reading coordinates.
The new destination shows as the new marker on the radar; head straight toward it.
3. Wrap Up Island 3 Before You Sail
- Finish the Grill Master’s shark quest if you haven’t — his grill gives cooked catches a 1.5x sell multiplier for the rest of the game.
- The meat chunks from the boss are safe money; sell them (the reference runner did: “we’re rich now”).
- Stock food and ammo — the next boss chain starts as soon as you land.
What’s on Island 4
Island 4 is the casino and bird island: the Lucky Bait Casino (roulette and slots — a golden sniper skin was a slot prize in the walkthrough), a gun store, and the next boss chain. The locals explain it straight away: an enormous bird is terrorizing the island, it can smell tuna, and laying tuna on the grass is how you lure it in. Its head is the next trophy.
Step by Step
- Collect everything from the drop pile; identify the tail (bone sticking out).
- Sell or eat the plain meat chunks; keep the tail.
- Hand the tail to the Tourist by the tree.
- Take the flash drive with the Island 4 coordinates.
- Buy the boat radar upgrade on Island 3.
- Finish the Grill Master’s quest if it’s still open; restock food and ammo.
- Sail toward the new marker until you reach Island 4.
- Talk to the locals to start the Giant Bird quest.
Common Mistakes
- Assuming the quest is bugged when the Tourist rejects meat chunks.
- Expecting Island 4 on the map right after the kill — flash drive first, radar second.
- Leaving Island 3 without the tail. Check inventory and the beach around the fight area before anything else.
- Bulk-selling the drops with the tail included.
- In co-op, make sure the player actually holding the tail does the hand-in.
